i know. you need an update if you are ever going to keep checking this. but i haven't been able to upload pictures in a bit, so i guess i will be forced to put into practice my writing skills. well, quickly, because i could be whisked away at any moment by a hungry, tired little.

greg's birthday is coming up soon.... i got him a pizza stone which i made him open up a week early so he could enjoy making the members of his household who eat solid food some good dinners, two nights in a row now... maybe three, who knows, it's really very good pizza! his other present is under the tree, but he picked it out himself so, it's even less of a surprise than the one he's already opened.

what else? i fed william a tiny spoonful of applesauce tonight (so he may be eating pizza tomorrow), but of course worried about giving him multiple spices at one time (cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice) because apparently even with spices you are supposed to implement one at a time... sheesh... it's like they don't want babies to have any fun at all!

it's hot out for fall.

william will have a boy cousin in february! and an uncle ben in march!

man, these are the updates you have when you have momnesia... i'm sure other things are happening in our lives, but i'm just not capable of recalling them! and now william is getting tired now, so i must go, despite this page-turner of a post!

well, as you all may have suspected, william is officially a happy-go-lucky five month old, as of 6 days ago.

and he has officially traveled in the car on a long voyage to...


....hang out with his mom at the university of illinois...

and meet his cousin stewart... just slightly his senior...

and pet a horse for the first time while his great (a.k.a. wonderful) aunt holds him....

and bounces like a mad man after we got him a johnny jump up...

sometimes he is even tired and snuggly in footy pajamas...

oh, and i could not resist getting him an old pair of blue converse all stars, because i had such a pair in high school. of course they are too big for him now, but he's not quite to the point yet where he can escape his mom dressing him up in clown shoes, snapping photos of it, and posting them on the internet. sorry will.

mr. pots and pans is now nearing the five month mark!

we have had a steady stream of wonderful visitors lately and will be sad for the drought. come to see us soon friend or relative!

here is one picture of some spectacular house guests! spectacular in that they convinced greg to make cinnamon bread... and because of their terrific nannying abilities... and witty banter... and etc. etc.

in other news, the most recent grandmother to pass through these parts (thank you, thank you by the way!) will be disappointed to know that the little man turned over* mere hours after her departure. a sort of welcoming home to his father who was in philadelphia at a conference. his father's 'i got this for you when i went to philadelphia for a conference' gift to his son: the 2008 u.s. mint proof set. apparently way cooler than the 1981 u.s. mint proof set (it is pretty cool, i have to say). the perfect medium for greasy fingers' work product.

well, time is always short around here so i must be going. have a fabulous weekend!

*he turned over a few weeks ago three times in a row for one of his other grandmothers and his mom, but had yet to do an encore until yesterday.

these are from a week to two ago. recent milestones: celebrating one hundred days of life, getting his first dreadlocks... is this how his hair is going to fall out? going to ravinia and getting close to garrison keillor... but not too close.
