beatrices and hail

today's garden update: the beatrices.

actually, this is not an up-to-date update because it rained all day today and when we got to the garden everything was so much bigger than it was when we left it, but... this will give you an idea, nonetheless.

beatrice #1
the bells of ireland are in the middle. they are getting bell-like. not sure what the other two plants are, but the one in the front... an erigeron species or somesuch is flowering and so are the fern-like plants in the back.

yellow painted tongues.

beatrice #3
flax.

flax's purple flowers close up...

the morning glories... still not flowering yet...

and now... the moment you've all been waiting for... the plot's new mascot... unveiled...

Muddy Daubers the Mud Dauber...
how cute is he?!! so colorful and so determined! he came back to the same muddy footprint for over an hour! ... and... yes... i watched him for... a good chunck of that time... anywho, so when i got home and researched about him i found out that he is probably building a house all for himself! which is sort of sad to think... i imagined that he was flying back and forth between the muddy footprint and the mud dauber 'committee on mud and design'... you know... "what do you think about this chunck of mud?" "no, too gray..." "now, now let's wait and see how it looks once it dries..." you know... working with a team, hanging out with his family after work... but nope... all alone. at least according to wikipedia.com.

what else?
park fun.

tree climbing...

and picking up seeester from illinois!

ah wisconsin... so pretty...

but the skies turned rainy on the way home... to keep all of the fields green no doubt... how thoughtful...

and then it turned more rainy...

and then more rainy... and hail-like...

until we couldn't see in front of us any longer... and we had to pull over on the side of the highway with the rest of the cars.

how worried were we?

that worried.

but then... all was light and bright again...

and sunny!

p.s. for those who thought the picture of the girl was me. it wasn't. it was my somewhat-look-kind-of-alike little sister.
