garden finds

this must be the very peak of summertime from a garden's perspective...

if you haven't grown garlic, i highly recommend it. it's easy to grow, you get garlic scapes (garlic in a non-bulb form) early in the season and then garlic bulbs right about now.
mmm....

Amazing! Did all that come from your garden? Are you growing lemons too? We played potato farmer this weekend also--lots of kennebecs, hopefully the reds will hold out a while longer. Our tomatoes are probably a week or so away. How are the potatoes doing under the straw? If that was successful for you two, I'd like to do that next year.

i meant to mention that the lemon was grown in the grocery store! i don't know why our tomatoes are so ahead of schedule, but i think it's because the plants are dying prematurely due to some sort of disease... not good. the potatoes under the straw were... virtually non-existent, unless we haven't dug deep enough. we may stick with the traditional method in the coming years!
